Reflecting 7000 oaks 1972

Ayşegül Kurtel, curator, art collector and director of the Center for Contemporary Art K2 in Izmir, takes up Beuys` art action "7000 Oaks" (Dokumenta 1982) as a theme for the city of Izmir.

Izmir, a city of four million people, is struggling for air; livable public space is rare. Inspired by Joseph Beuys, a sustainable project is being developed together with the municipality. Together with adults, children will improve their living space and plant trees in the city in the fall of 2021.
